The two chair balance
The two chair balance is a comedy stunt/routine. I performed it to two Scott Joplin rags for many years as part of my Classic Show and it became a feature of that Show. I really miss performing it, but will be pleased to sell it to, train and watch someone else taking it on. Or of course you can just buy it and discover the possibilities for yourself, as I did.
Watch a studio performance here.
This performance is not as good as the live version as I respond to a live audience far more successfully than to a camera. Britain’s Got Talent tried several times (unsuccessfully) to get me to do it on that (in my humble opinion) awful TV show. However it acts as a good measure of what is possible with this piece of kit. Magicians may recognise it as a Chair Suspension illusion and originally that is how I developed the routine with a set by Peter Diamond., the illusion builder from Preston. However I decided that the kit needed to be sturdier and so I had the current model made by an engineer, Tegid Roberts of Llanrwst. The same principles (adapted, developed and made by the same wonderful engineer) applies for the three chair version, also available on the same shelf as this one.
It does require a performer with confidence and some flexibility, but it is a superb central routine for any show and folds flat! I will also (if required) supply the music tracks which suit the routine and (of course I would say this) are perfect for it.
