Tricks that anyone can do by Morley Adams
An extremely rare 1911 first edition of this book. Sadly missing the front hard cover but all intact apart from that. This was one of his first publishing ventures. The intact (but detached)back cover has a lovely old ad for Hamley’s in Regent Street, London where I used to go as a boy straight to the magic department upstairs through the land of wonder that was that shop. There a young man (probably no more than 17) who demonstrated and sold magic. I was hooked. I wanted to be a magician. This is the sort of book I would have loved. Lots of great stuff here for the beginner, but the effects can be developed by the professional presenter of magic. And that’s a bit different from being a magician…
